ABSTRACT: We all have some sense of the relationship between sleep and our ability to function throughout the day. After all, everyone has experienced the fatigue, bad mood, or lack of focus that so often follow a night of poor sleep. What many people do not realize is that a lack of sleep—especially on a regular basis—is associated with long-term health consequences, including chronic medical conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease, and that these conditions may lead to a shortened life expectancy. Additional research studies show that habitually sleeping more than nine hours is also associated with poor health. The expenditure of poor sleep is much greater than many people think: it may have profound consequences for our long-term health. Research has revealed that people who consistently fail to get enough sleep are at an increased risk of chronic disease, and it’s on way to understand why? Treating sleep as a priority, rather than a luxury, may be an important step in preventing a number of chronic medical conditions. Lifestyle factors include not getting enough sleep, having an irregular sleep schedule, and using alcohol or certain medications. Of the more than 70 known sleep disorders, the most common are obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, and restless legs syndrome. Large numbers of individuals suffering from these sleep disorders are unaware of—and have not been diagnosed or treated for—their disorder. This article delineates about various chronic ailments associated to sleeplessness and their prolific remedies.

ABSTRACT: The purpose of the present study is to find out the difference between the mean scores of Experimental group which was taught through self instruction module of information technology approach and conventional method administered on control group.  Data collection module/lessons were prepared by investigators to measure achievement scores in Information Technology. The sample was selected randomly from the two sections of class 6th students of New Bright Public School,Rohtak. It consisted 30 students of experimental group and 30 students of control group. To measure the significant difference‘t’ test was applied.  The study reveals that the self instruction module prepared by investigators oral, print and electronic media i.e. power point presentation (ppp)is effective. The students of experimental group scored better as compared to control group. Thus self instruction module of information technology approach shows immense impact on learning of students. Teaching through this method is very helpful to develop the knowledge and understanding domain of all kind of students i.e. having different and varied abilities. This approach is very helpful to teachers as well as students. It was found that students took interest in teaching learning process and they did not hesitate to clarify their concepts.

ABSTRACT: The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of using Schema theory on reading comprehension among the students of the eighth grade in Karak Governorate in the light of pre-prepared knowledge activities. To test the hypotheses, a representative sample of the study population was selected by (170) students and distributed on two groups: experiment and control group for the application of the study tool, and after the completion of application of study tool, post -test was conducted on SPSS, and the results were: 1-there are statistical differences at the level of significance (0.05) in comprehension between grade eight students in favor of the experiment group that has been taught using the suggested program.2-there are not statistical differences due to gender at the level of significance (0.05).3-that there are no differences due to the interaction between method and gender at the level of significance (0.05). Those results were discussed and a set of recommendations related to the teaching-learning process were introduced for the decision makers.

**Fatih University, Education Faculty, Department of Educational Science, Curriculum Development and Teaching Department, Büyükçekmece/İstanbul

ABSTRACT: The success of pedagogical formation program in which teaching skills are improved with practices apart from theoretical lessons is observed through internship of teaching Practice lessons. This lesson includes theoretical two course hours, observations and teaching experiences at schools. The requirements of this course are pre-acquisition of skills such as theoretical knowledge, planning, measurement, assessment, material development, guiding for learning and classroom management. These experiences direct the process of education and influence willingness for practice. When the issue is considered in the sense of “first lesson experience”; it is more important to determine preconceptions before the Teaching Practice. For this reason, preconceptions before teaching process of 200 (110 female, 90 male) teacher candidates who receive Pedagogical Formation Certificate Program in 2011-2012 academic year were determined through qualitative research. The participants were asked an open-ended question “Write down what do you expect about teaching at your practice school”, and were given ten minutes to answer. Data were analyzed with content and discourse analyses; and transformed into judgmental statements. The cumulative frequencies of positive and negative aspects of statements were determined. The findings analyzed in terms of the relationship of the profession, preconception years and gender factors. The results showed that most of the preconceptions of teacher candidates have negative quality and under the titles of expectation, fear and knowledge.  Preconceptions about fear in classroom management were observed and mostly inexperienced teachers and female teachers have preconceptions about fear.

ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study was to examine the subject in public universities. A total of 100 undergraduate students were involved in the study. The study used survey research design. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data from the respondents. Data was analyzed with the help of Statistical Packages for Social Sciences. Descriptive statistics specifically frequencies and percentages, and inferential statistics particularly Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation were applied in data analysis. The study achieved a response rate of 92%. The results indicated that majority (54%) had a cumulative average of a B. The study also revealed a positive correlation between sleep quantity and academic performance with a coefficient of 0. 326 (at 0.01 significance level). The study concludedthat lack of adequate sleep negatively affects the performance of students in public universities in Kenya. The main cause of insufficient sleep among university students was stress which resulted from family problems, inadequate pocket money and broken relationships.
